Iron Sharpens Iron Reflection
Iron Sharpens Iron is taken from Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Scripture also says, “We love because He first loved us.”- 1 John 4:19. It is tremendously hard to give 100% or perform at an elite level if you do not know what it looks like. Young children are always playing their heroes. Whether the hero is an athlete, a firefighter, a soldier, a musician, etc., children see the greatness in their hero and strive to be that too. They do not play things they do not know. If we consistently demonstrate 80% effort, that may be the only level of effort our teammate will ever see. That may be the only level of performance they will ever come to know. We must love our neighbor as Jesus Christ calls us to. We must love our neighbor enough to give it all, to give 100% for them, so they may have the courage to give that too, so they may have the opportunity to live as the Eternal Champion God created them to be. One player’s courageous effort can elevate an entire team’s performance and inspire a stadium of spectators. We have that responsibility to be that championship example, to be Christ’s team captain and help lead others to victory by our courageous example. “Iron Sharpens Iron.”
